William F. (Bill) Austin, Jr., age 75, of Mt. Airy, Died Monday, November 5, 2012, at his home, after a long battle with cancer.
He was born June 20, 1937 in Washington, DC the son of the late William Austin, Sr. and the late Edna Marie Redman Austin.
He spent most of his adult life in insurance and real estate sales and management, retiring in 1999. He enjoyed his yard work and following his children’s and grandsons school activities and sports.
He was a member of Taylorsville U.M. Church. He enjoyed traveling, eating, out and precious times with an amazing extended family and friends and of course his beloved Redskins.
He was the devoted husband of Gloria “Jean” Cowden Austin, his wife of 48 years.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughter Sherri Austin Beachley and husband Darren of Brunswick, MD., son William “Billy” Austin III and wife Dana Austin of Myersville, MD., sister in laws Mary Burgess, JoAnn Edmonds, nephew Harry “Buzz” Williams, many beloved nieces and nephews and four amazing grandsons, Bryan, Connor, Brady and Kai, and twin sister Patricia Kopppen.
Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) on Thursday from 7-9 PM; where a funeral service will be held on Friday, November 9, 2012 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Sarah Dorrance officiating.
Interment Parklawn Cemetery, Rockville, MD.
