Sandra Watkins

Sandra Kay Watkins, 76, of Mt. Airy passed away on Monday, May 18th at Autumn Lake in Sykesville, Maryland. Sandy was born on November 23, 1949, in Topeka, Kansas. She was the daughter of the late Dale and Marion Brubaker. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, J. Wayne Watkins.

Sandy had been employed as a legal secretary for several law firms, Griff R. Jones State Farm Insurance Agency, and secretary to the Clerk of the Court, Carroll County. Her last employer was with CLSI as an administrative assistant for the corporation. Sandy was also a life member of VFW Post 467 Ladies Auxiliary. Sandy and her husband were Co-Directors for Orientering of The Maryland Youth Hunter Education Challenge.

Sandy first saw the ocean at age 18 and fell in love with the beach. Sandy enjoyed sailing with her husband on their Yacht the “Sandy Jay” on the Chesapeake Bay. She also enjoyed sailing with Barefoot Charters in the BVI and Bahamas.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a sister Jean Maleski of Vermont. Also surviving are sons J. Timothy Watkins and wife Lisa; and Jason Watkins and wife Becky; along with grandchildren Morgan Wilson and husband Drew, J. Tyler Watkins and wife Ashlee, Megan Watkins, Declan Hopwood and Lane Watkins.

In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by sister Kathy Trechter and husband Stephen; and granddaughter Emily Ann Watkins.

Services will be private.
