Roberta Ann Whetzel (nee Carter) 79 of Baltimore, MD (Windsor Mill) died on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was the spouse of the late James Fram Whetzel.
She was born September 11, 1946, in Baltimore City, MD, the daughter of the late George Joseph Carter of Baltimore, MD and the late Edna Roberta Carter (nee Paulus) of Baltimore, MD.
For many years Roberta Whetzel was a homemaker attending to her family, especially her children and the love of her life James Whetzel. After many years Roberta became a daycare teacher’s assistant. She was a former member of Colonial Baptist Church in Randallstown, MD where she assisted in the nursery. She later became a member of Elders Baptist Church in Eldersburg, MD where she assisted with Baptism.
Roberta Whetzel was a loving, kind, and gentle wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was the mother of James C. Whetzel and wife Meleah of Finksburg, MD, Melissa Ann Whetzel of Baltimore, MD, Michael Whetzel of Baltimore, MD, and Joy Greenwald (nee Whetzel) of Falling Waters, WV. Loving grandmother (Mom Mom) of Jeremiah Brooks, James Whetzel and fiancé Dakotah, Jonathan Whetzel, Jeanna Whetzel, Kyle Whetzel, Emma Whetzel, Ricky Greenwald, Taylor Whetzel, and William Greenwald and ecstatically loving great grandmother to James Thomas Whetzel. Devoted sister to the late George Carter.
Roberta was a loving, kind, and gentle lady whose life revolved around her children and husband. Roberta was the most incredible mother. She had such a kind way with all children. She was a very attentive wife to her love “Jim”. Roberta gave so much from the heart to anyone in need.
Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd., Sykesville, MD (beside South Carroll High School) on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, for a viewing from 10am-12pm, followed by the funeral service at 12pm with Deacon Rob Collins and Pastor Daniel Collins.
Luncheon will be served following the funeral service. Private inurnment will be at a later date.
