Robert “Bob” William Setzer (84) of Westminster, MD, died Thursday, October 21, 2021, surrounded by family. He is survived by the loves of his life: his wife of nearly 60 years, Sharon Setzer (née Woolford) and their daughter, Kelly Setzer, her husband, Cesar Guzman; granddaughter, Gabrielle “Gabby” Barnes; brother-in-law, Lloyd “Mike” Woolford, Jr. and his wife, Cookie; sister-in-law, Bonnie Woolford; sister Joan Wolfenden, plus several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Wayne Woolford, and brother-in-law Thomas Wolfenden.
Bob was born on November 16, 1936, in Towson, MD to William and Eleanor Setzer. He served in the Marines from 1954-61 and was stationed in Camp Lejeune and Puerto Rico, among other places. He was lucky enough to spend his career doing a job he loved, a mechanic. He owned and operated Reliable Auto & Truck Service (R.A.T.S.) in Eldersburg, MD. Bob thoroughly enjoyed spending time with family and friends and participating in some of his favorite hobbies such as hunting, trap shooting and fishing. He is a past president and lifelong member of the Liberty Road Fish and Game club. Bob and his wife also spent many years raising, breeding, and showing Shar-Pei dogs, and making many wonderful friends along the way.
A memorial service will be held at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, PA., in Winfield, MD on Monday, October 25, 2021, from 2pm – 4pm, with the formal service to begin at 3:30pm. In lieu of flowers and if desired, donations can be made Operation Scarlet, PO Box 8463 Lancaster, PA 17604 – 8463 (Shar-pei rescue) or www.pawsitivityservicedogs.com, an organization that trains service dogs for U.S. veterans.
