Paul Francis Pedone, Jr.

Paul Francis Pedone Jr., a man whose kindness was as boundless as his appetite for life, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026. He was 75 years old.

Born in Baltimore on March 15, 1950, to the late Paul Pedone Sr. and Bessie Mae Pedone, Paul carried a "Charm City" warmth with him wherever he went. He lived his life with a simple but profound philosophy: never take things too seriously and always leave people better than you found them. Whether it was a lifelong friend or a stranger in passing, Paul had a unique gift for making people smile.

A proud veteran, Paul served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Kretchmer, an experience that shaped his disciplined yet adventurous spirit. Following his service, he dedicated over 40 years to the produce industry with A&P, Superfresh, and C&S. He was instrumental in starting the farm to table movement in Maryland. To Paul, his colleagues and distributors weren't just business associates—they were family. He led with a generous heart, a trait that extended to any "stray" that crossed his path, whether they had two legs or four (or, in some cases, a shell).

Paul’s greatest joy, however, was found at home. For the past year, he lived with his son, Paul Pedone III, and daughter-in-law, Laura, where he spent his days watching his grandchildren, Savannah and Rylen, grow. Even in his final days in the hospital, his thoughts remained fixed on "the kids," whose presence was the light of his life.

He was a man who truly loved to eat, famously never meeting a vegetable or meal he didn't like, and he faced every challenge life threw at him with a shrug and a smile.

Paul is survived by his son, Paul III and his wife, Laura; his beloved grandchildren, Savannah, and Rylen; his three turtles, Shelly, Tippy, and Billie; his sister Christine (Pedone) Young, her husband Gil, and their son Gene, and his other son Nicholas Pedone, and his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Sr. and Bessie Mae.

Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Sykesville, MD 21784 (Beside South Carroll High School) on Monday, March 2, 2026, from 10:30 am- 11:30 am, With Catholic Prayers at 11:30 AM., Interment Lake View Memorial Park.
