Mike McGregor, age 64 of Westminster passed away peacefully at home on February 18th, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Mike was born in Cumberland, Maryland on August 31st, 1961. 

He was a passionate outdoorsman, landscape artist and devoted adaptive sports coach. He spent many happy days skiing, boating, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, mountain biking, tending to his bees and chickens, driving cross country, exploring new parks, camping, spending time with his family and walking his loving dogs. 

He used his degree in horticulture to build his business, Exterior Habitats, where many longstanding clients became more family. He was featured in magazines and showhouses highlighting his beautiful work and passion.

Mike spent countless hours helping everyone enjoy outdoor sports regardless of any impairment, including waterskiing, snow skiing, cycling, whitewater rafting and any other sport including dancing at the end of the day.

Mike was heavily involved with many organizations including Special Olympics, BARS, BRASS, Maryland State Beekeepers Association, Mushroom Growers, Buc’s Club and Knights of Columbus. 

He is survived by his wife Peggy McGregor; children Tom McGregor & wife Emily, Dan McGregor, and Kayla McGregor-Areizaga & husband Hector; grandson Hector Michael Areizaga, Jr.; Mother Joann McGregor. The brother of Mark McGregor & wife Sandy, and Pat McGregor and wife Michellle. Also survived by his cousin MaryBeth Martin Rigsby, and was the uncle of Melanie & Shawn Butler, Chris McGregor, Andrew & Briana, Phil McGregor, Megan & husband Mark Leister, Sean McGregor, his grandniece Magnolia McGregor and grandnephew Morgan Leister, and his in laws the Schmitt family.

He was preceded in death by his father Robert McGregor.

Services will be held on Saturday February 28, 2026, at Burrier Queen Funeral Home 1212 West Old Liberty Road Sykesville, Maryland for a memorial gathering from 10am – 11 am with a Catholic Prayer service at 11 AM followed by a Celebration of Life held at the Buc’s Club at 3050 Bird View Road, Westminster, Maryland from 1pm - 4pm.

Interment will be held at a later date at Serenity Ridge Natural Burial Cemetery.
