Mary Ella Haines Magin, 93, of Westminster, who resided in Taylorsville for the majority of her life, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at Summerville Nursing Home of Westminster. Born February 8, 1915, in Pleasant Valley, MD, she was the oldest of eleven children of the late Walter Turner Haines and Mary Wantz Haines. She was a homemaker and farm wife with her late husband Donald Clark Magin (1912 – 1994) for 5 decades on their farms near Taylorsville . She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church, Dennings, and was an active Sunday school teacher for several decades. In the 50’s and 60’s she was an active member of the Women’s Society of Christian Service and the local Homemakers Club. She was a gifted seamstress, cook, and baker. She also loved working in her flower gardens. Surviving are her daughter and two sons, Bonnie Swartzbaugh, Donald R. and Charles C. Magin; grandchildren Steve and Brian Will, Laura Bevard, all of Westminster and Richard Magin of Mt. Airy ; five great grandchildren; and 5 brothers. Friends and family may pay their respects on Thursday, April 17 at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA 1212 W. Old Liberty Road (Beside South Carroll High School), Sykesville, MD from (2-4 and 7-9 pm). A funeral service will be held at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA on Friday, April 18 at 10:00 am followed by interment at Taylorsville United Methodist Church, Taylorsville, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. James United Methodist Church, Mary Magin Memorial, 2424 Burton Drive , New Windsor, MD 21776.
