Marlene M. DeRosa

Marlene M. DeRosa, 88, of Sykesville, MD passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2026.

The beloved wife of the late Jack L. DeRosa, her husband of 56 years.

Born November 12, 1937, in Cumberland, MD the daughter of the late Rosella Smith. At the young age of 11, she began working at Tolls Grocery Store, helping stock shelves and assist customers after school.

Marlene met Jack and married him on June 23, 1956. Together they welcomed a daughter followed by a son, and later moved to Montgomery County, Maryland, where they raised their Five Children.

Marlene was the mother of Rosemary, Michael, Christopher, David and Elizabeth. She is the grandmother of 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Also survived by her brother Arthur Smith and sister Caroline “Peachy” Newbill.

She was preceded in death by her siblings Ronald Smith and Jean Jump

Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, 1212 Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 10 AM to 12 Noon with the funeral service beginning at 12 Noon.

Interment Lake View Memorial Park Eldersburg, MD.
