Lois Marie Bloom (nee Borgmann), 68 of Ellicott City, MD passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at her home.
She was the beloved and patiently kind wife of Abraham Bloom of 46 years 2 weeks and 1 day.
Born November 16, 1957, in Baltimore, MD the youngest daughter of the late Eugene Richard Borgmann and the late Edith May Borgmann (nee Greb).
Lois is the sole survivor of a terrible drowning accident August 5th 1970 that claimed the lives of her Father Eugene Richard and her brother Paul Vincent who were trying to save Lois from undertow.
Lois went on the graduate Woodlawn Senior High school in 1976.
In June 1978 she then enlisted in the U.S. Army and went to Ft. McClellan for basic training. She then proceeded to N.T.T.C. Corry Station Pensacola Florida for training as a Electronic Warfare Signals Intelligence Non-Morse Intercept Operator. Later receiving special training in UHF/VHF Intercept operations. Her permanent duty station was USAISD Field Station Berlin, Germany.
Lois met her husband while they were both serving in the U.S. Army in Berlin Germany performing Signals Intelligence operations.
After discharge from the U.S. Army Lois began a career at the National Security Agency working various signals efforts from which she retired December 1, 2012 after 33 years of Federal Service.
Lois was a talented person and loved interior and exterior designing at her home, she also enjoyed Horticulture. All the special features and touches to the home and landscaping were directed or performed by Lois.
Surviving in addition to her husband are her children Eric Bloom, Joseph Bloom & wife Catryna, and their son Zachary Bloom. Also survived by her sister Gail Nunn.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 10-11 AM with a funeral service starting at 11 AM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, (beside South Carroll High School).
Interment to follow at CrestLawn Memorial Gardens.
