Linda Joyce Buchwald (nee. Muench) passed peacefully on Saturday, April 18, 2026 surrounded by the love and laughter of her family, and holding the hand of her husband of 66 years, Thomas (Champ) Patrick Buchwald. Born on March 21, 1942 in Baltimore, where she spent most of her early life, Catonsville became the community where she and Champ raised their three daughters. But a country life always called, and after many family drives, they settled in the Winfield community in 1986, where she remained until her recent passing.

Their home was the gathering space for numerous events through the years and held the love of parties, holiday celebrations, just simple pool days, and even a family wedding. Linda was a long time gardener and so enjoyed the spring traditions of shopping with her girls for a ridiculous number of plants and getting started on the spring planting. She loved her gardens. She was a bird enthusiast, and an avid crafter at various times in her life, focusing on the arrangement of flowers and wreaths. She was a loyal Elvis fan and shared stories about her days of traveling to Graceland with her fun (although she would call them crazy) friends. Stories full of silliness, laughter and grand adventure. She loved to bake, and was frequently trying new recipes to share. She was a homemaker.

Passing before her were her mother Ella Augusta Muench (nee. Reihl), father Robert Earl Muench, and sister and best friend Joan Ellen Martin (nee. Muench).

Linda is survived by daughters Denise (and Brian) Ashby, Robin (and Brian) Holz and Cindi (and David) Arnold, all of whom live in the Carroll County community.

There are grandchildren who have all enjoyed a good deal of their childhoods at their home in Winfield. Zachary Holz (and Joss Unzicker) who now reside in Portland, OR. Their daughter, Louisa, is the first great-grandchild. Emily Holz (and Ryan Diffenbaugh) also live in Portland, OR. In Carroll County, there are 5 others – Lucas Ashby (and Molly Coleman), Jennifer Holz, Jeffrey Arnold, Shaun Arnold and Tyler Arnold.

“A Mother’s love doesn’t end at goodbye. It just learns how to hold you from heaven.”
