Lewis Fletcher Bigelow, 86, of Mount Airy, Maryland passed away on May 7, 2026.

Born on February 21, 1940, in Morgantown, West Virginia, Lewis lived a full and adventurous life rooted in family, service, and a love for the open road. He proudly served in the United States Army as a Vietnam War veteran and carried a deep appreciation for his country throughout his life.

Lewis spent much of his life traveling across the United States, especially on his beloved Boss Hoss trike, which took him thousands of miles through the places and landscapes he loved most. He had a lifelong passion for cars, road trips, good food, trips to Walt Disney World, and his dogs. Those closest to him knew his love for his family, strong will, and beautiful smile.

He was first married to Judith Bigelow, with whom he shared his children. Among Lewis’ most treasured memories was the birth of his daughter, Kelly Lynn Bigelow. He often spoke of that moment with deep pride and love, marking it as one of the most important days of his life. He is survived by his daughter, Kelly Lynn Bigelow, and was preceded in death by his son, Robert Lewis Bigelow.

Later in life, Lewis married the love of his life, Nancy Marie Bigelow. Together they built a joyful life filled with dancing, travel, laughter, and companionship. Their love remained one of the defining parts of his life, and he carried it with him always after her passing.

Lewis was a proud grandfather to Alana Victoria, Katelyn Valerie, and Grace Marie, and a cherished great-grandfather to Kristian Jalen.

For nearly 50 years, Lewis called Mount Airy home, where he built a life filled with stories, memories, and enduring love for his family. He will be remembered for his loving nature, hard work, and the beautiful life he created for his family.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 15, 2026, from 10 AM to 12 Noon with funeral service beginning at 12 Noon at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory 1212 West Old Liberty Road Sykesville, MD 21784 (beside South Carroll High School).
