Leo Spires

Leo John Spires, age 63 of Taylorsville, MD passed on August 15, 2023 at The Dove House, after a brief illness. Born December 4, 1959 in Carvel Beach, MD, he was the son of the late Donald Spires and Diana Curtian. He was the beloved husband of Debra (Magers) Grigsby. Leo was the cherished father of daughters Melissa Warlick and husband Bryant; Michelle Herrera and husband Sammy; Heidi Hoff and husband Rich; Amanda Putnam; and son Travis Morgan. He was a loving grandfather and “Pop” to his grandchildren: Taylor, Lyndzie, Jordan, Nathan, Fantasia, Cayden, Connor, Makayla, Jaxon and Bryson; and several nieces; sister Diana (Suzie) Wellman and his beloved Aunt Dee (Elsie) Disney. He was predeceased by a brother, Jimmy Smith. Leo was a plumber by trade and had recently retired. He loved woodworking and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He also enjoyed many adventures riding his motorcycle on the open road. He was a member and past president of the About 12 MC (Motorcycle Club) with 27 years clean and sober. He was also a speaker for Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) for over 20 years. Family and friends meant everything to him.
