Laura Jean Goldstein (63) passed away peacefully on April 9th, 2026, surrounded by the love and laughter of her family.

Laura was predeceased by her parents, Marian and Ed Pollnitz. She leaves behind her husband, Jerry; her 12 children, Matt (Stacy) Goldstein, Gary Goldstein, Shelly (Kenny) Johnson, Nick (Lindsay) Goldstein, Tammi (Daniel) Dell, Kristina (Lionel) Lee, Shannon Goldstein, Christy Mullinax, Dawne Mullinax, Danielle (Kareem) Goldstein, Amanda (Matthew) Horn, and Tommy Mullinax; 19 grandchildren, Alexander Goldstein, Sebastian Goldstein, Benjamin Goldstein, Taylor Goldstein, Logan Goldstein, Kenny Johnson, Kelly Johnson, Eddie Johnson, Emmeline Goldstein, Hunter Goldstein, Jerry Wyatt Dell, Morgan Dell, Bella Lee, Tori Lee, Charlie Lee, Conner McCarthy, Caleb McCarthy, Matthew Horn Jr., and Maddy Horn; as well as her sister, Linda Pollnitz.

Laura filled her life with an enthusiastic pursuit of anything and everything that interested her. She loved dinosaurs and the mysteries of ancient pyramids; she was fascinated by the stars and planets that fill the night sky. Even the small everyday miracles here on earth like budding tulips and fresh tomatoes from a backyard garden brought her joy. It was a rare day to catch Laura without a book in her hand, and a day when she wasn’t ready with a recommendation for your next read was unimaginable. Nothing thrilled her more than scoring a great deal or discovering a thrifted treasure, and a day spent relaxing in the sunshine on her front porch was a day well spent indeed.

The holidays were her favorite time of year and often stretched from Thanksgiving to Presidents’ Day rather than pack away the joy of it all before she was ready. There was a deceptive sense of effortless ease to the way Laura created Christmas magic for her large and ever-growing family. She loved nothing more than sitting at the edge of the room and watching the results of months of careful planning and creative budgeting unravel into a tornado of brightly colored paper and a cacophony of happy squeals and shouts of laughter.

Laura’s quiet strength was a source of support and inspiration to everyone around her. Through the example of her own day-to-day life, she doled out stealthy lessons of grace and perseverance designed to encourage us all to look at the world from every perspective and choose paths of empathy and kindness.

The family will be receiving visitors at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home in Sykesville, MD from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, April 16th, 2026, including a brief and informal service at 8:00 PM. In accordance with Laura’s deeply held belief that, with the right necklace or a nice pair of boots, jeans could be dressy enough for any occasion, casual attire is requested.
