John R. Freas, age 73, of Sykesville, died Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at the Gilchrist Hospice Center in Towson, MD.
He was born October 20, 1939 in Philadelphia, PA the son of the late Robert Freas and the late Eileen E. Freas (nee MacQuiston).
He was a self-employed Manufacture Representative in the Commercial Stationary Industry for 40 years. As a Lifetime member of the Randallstown Optimist Club, he coached Pop Warner football for 8 years, which included 2 national championships. He loved cooking, playing poker and entertaining people. He loved the South Jersey Shore. He served in the US Army in Korea.
He was the husband of Kay Freas (nee Simpson) for 52 years, and the loving father of Paul Freas and wife Katie, Richard Freas and wife Carolyn and Sharon Winkler and husband Brad, and loving grandfather of Alexandra, Wyatt and Eli.
He was the brother of Pati Coyle and Nancy Wilk.
A Gathering of family and friends will be at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) on Friday, February 15, 2013 from 5-9 PM.
Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 11:00 AM with a gathering from 10:00-11:00 AM at the Wesley Freedom United Methodist Church 961 Johnsville Rd., Sykesville, Maryland 21784
