Joann Marie Claycomb, 84, of Mt. Airy, Maryland passed away on March 10, 2026, in Westminster, Maryland surrounded by family. Born in Schellsburg, Pennsylvania to the late Draper and Gladys Smith. Joann worked many years as a public-school bus driver in Howard County, Maryland and was a dedicated wife and mother. Joann was known for her kind and gentle heart, her comforting nature, and her undying devotion to her family.

She is survived by her children, Jeff Claycomb (Diana Claycomb spouse), Linn Claycomb, Michele King (Jim King spouse), Heather Jackson (Noah Jackson spouse), Russell Brehm (her honorary son), her grandchildren, Brad, Mark, Savanna, Sierra, and Cheyenne. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Richard “Dick” Claycomb.

She was a daughter, sister, wife, friend, and above all, a devoted mother who loved her children more than anything in this world. Though she’s gone, we feel her everywhere—as we see her favorite flowers blooming in the garden, a red cardinal perched on a tree branch, the smell of a home cooked meal, or a comforting embrace.

Mom you were the light of our lives, even in your final chapter when your memories began to fade you would muster up a display of your charming sense of humor, we all knew and loved and always made us laugh. Your continued sense of comfort wrapped us like a warm hug until the very end. Your love was your greatest gift — and it will remain with us always.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, April 20, 2026, at 12 p.m. at the Fishertown Community Bible Church, located at 2743 Valley Rd, Schellsburg, PA 15559, on April 20, 2026, at 12:00PM followed by a graveside service.

As we gather to celebrate the lives of Joann and Dick Claycomb, we reflect on the cherished memories, unwavering love, and their playful sense of humor they shared with us. Their legacy lives on in the family they cherished, the values instilled, and the lives they touched. They will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
