James D. Henry, Sr.

James D. Henry, Sr., 80, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Carroll County Hospital, in Westminster, MD.

The beloved husband of the late Patricia Arlene Henry (nee Wells).

Born September 3, 1945, in Baltimore, MD the son of the late Olympia Evelyn (nee Tangires) Henry and the late Edgar Henry.

James was a veteran of the United States Navy, then served over 20 years in the United States Coast Guard, while Serving in the Baltimore City Fire Department for over 20 years and taught Hazmat 1 and 2. After retiring he worked at Carroll Hospital as the Head of Safety and Security. James enjoyed spending time outdoors, kayaking, biking, camping and Hiking; his favorite was spending time with his family especially being a pop pop. Everyone knew him for his pranks, especially for the pranks on his daughter of placing different things in her purse.

James is survived by his children: Jennifer D. Myers and her significant other Derrick Shaffer, and James D. Henry, Jr. with his significant other Jamie Blackwell. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Austin Boyer, Nicolas Boyer, Seth Navarro, Daniella Myers, Wyatt Henry, and Cole Yost.

He was preceded in death by his siblings Timothy Henry and Alexandra “Hunky” Tanton

Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026 at 10 AM at Hope Chapel 75 Lamb Drive Westminster, MD 21158, following the service the family invites everyone for refreshments.

Graveside Inurnment will be private at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery 11501 Garrison Forest Rd, Owings Mills, MD 21117.
