Hugh Dalton Curtis 74 of Winfield, Died on Sunday, November 18, 2012 at Dove House Hospice in Westminster, MD
Born January 8, 1938 in Washington, DC he was the son of the late Charles Russell Curtis, Sr. and Gertrude Dintaman Curtis. He was the husband of Carolyn Davis Curtis, his wife of 54 years.
He was a 1956 graduate of Northwestern High School in Hyattsville, MD where he was an outstanding wrestler having been undefeated in his 3 years of Varsity Wrestling. He also played half back on NHS’s championship football team. He enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking, gardening, watching WWII movies, Discovery and History Channels and was a Washington Redskin fan.
Surviving are daughter Linda Anne Curtis Haire and husband Mark Haire of Duncan, OK, son Hugh Scott Curtis and wife Amber Dahlgreen Curtis of Westminster, MD Granddaughter and husband Jennifer Haire Mallow and Charles Mallow of Fulton, MD Grandson and wife Kyle and Julianna Haire of Yuma AZ, Granddaughters Catherine and Clara Curtis of Westminster, great-grandsons, Hunter and Logan Mallow and Taylor Haire. Sister Sallie Curtis McKenzie of Marion NC and brother Charles R. Curtis, Jr. of Nashville, TN Also Survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by brother Miles William “Bucky” Curtis
Mr. Curtis worked in photography for many years in Washington, DC. Notables he photographed include Louis Armstrong, David Brinkley, Chet Huntley, Walter Cronkite, and Admiral Rickover, He was a Printing Manager for Tracor Inc. in Rockville and Cor, Inc in Falls Church, VA and owner of Curtis Decorative Sculptures.
Memorial Services will be held Wednesday November 21, 2012 11 Am at BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, P.A., 1212, W Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784
