Herbert V. Sauter

Herbert V. Sauter, age 96, of Rockdale, MD passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Bridginglife-Dove House in Westminster, MD.

The beloved husband of the late Betty Jean Sauter (nee Subock) of 72 years.

Born May 23, 1929, in Hebbville, MD the son of the late Herbert R. Sauter and the late Mildred L. Sauter (nee Grill).

After graduating from Catonsville High School in 1946 at age 17, Herbert went to work for the B & O Railroad. He was an Army Veteran serving in the 101St Airborne Infantry from 1951-1953 in Austria. Upon his return home he continued working at B & O until his retirement in 1991 from CSX after 45 years of service.

He is survived by his daughter Kathleen Dell & husband Charles; grandson Daniel Dell & wife Tammi and granddaughter Katie Dell; great-grandchildren Wyatt & Morgan Dell.

In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his daughter Lisa Sauter.

Brother of the late Elinor Baim; also survived by several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Sunday January 18, 2026 from 4:00 PM-6:00 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. 1212 West Old Liberty Road Sykesville, MD 21784 (beside South Carroll High School), where funeral service will be held on Monday, January 19, 2026 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Robert Day officiating.

Interment at Mt. Olive Cemetery Randallstown, MD.
