Harry Thomas "Hank" Franklin

Harry Thomas “Hank” Franklin, age 88, of Ocean View, DE formerly of Carroll County, MD passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, June 15, 2025.

The beloved husband of Barbara Darlene Franklin (nee Ashley) for 69 years.

Born April 7, 1937, in New Windsor, MD the son of the late Alvie Eugene Franklin and the late Helen Irene Franklin (nee Burdette).

Harry was a lifetime master barber and teamster union member local 730 employed by Giant Food for 35 years. Harry enjoyed fishing, horse racing, and race cars, especially NASCAR races, and he always longed for days spent at the beach, where he could appreciate the beauty of nature. Harry was a proud member of the National Rifle Association for 53 years and the Elks for 58 years.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his children; Sonta Franklin, Solita Baptiste, Sloane Franklin, and Simeon Franklin. Harry’s legacy continues through his grandchildren: Alexis Young, Shawna Greenberg, Zachary Baptiste, Arianna Penn, and Fox Franklin, as well as his great-grandchildren, Stella Young, Margot Young, and Lucas Greenberg.

Harry was predeceased by his siblings George Franklin, Marybelle Kent, and Ethel Hoff.

A visitation will be held on June 23, 2025, from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. 1212 West Old Liberty Road Sykesville, MD 21784.

Interment at Lake View Memorial Park.
