Evelyn Marie Justice

Evelyn Marie Justice, 81, of Howard County and Queen Anne’s County, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 20, 2025.

Born on January 8, 1944, in Baltimore, Maryland, Evelyn was the daughter of and lovingly raised by the late Joseph Woodward and her mother, Minnie Woodward (née Laumann).

Evelyn enjoyed reading and solving crossword puzzles. She cherished time spent with her family and friends and had a deep passion for learning about her family’s heritage through tracing her family roots. She was also a member of the VFW in Grasonville, Maryland.

She is survived by her children, Tracey Higgs and her husband Craig Higgs, and Dale Rice and his wife Allyson Rice; her grandchildren, Kelsey Higgs, Rose Fan-Higgs, Samantha Rice, Parker Rice, and Tyler Rice; and her sister, JoAnn Bonsall. She also leaves behind many other loving family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her brother, Edwin Justice, and her sister, Joyce Wessel.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m., at Poplar Springs United Methodist Church, 915 East Watersville Road, Mount Airy, Maryland 21771. Interment will follow at Poplar Spring Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
