Esther Darlene “Dottie” Lowman (nee Hobbs), 83 of Mt. Airy, MD passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026.

Dottie was the beloved wife of Harry Thomas “Tom” Lowman for 65 years.

Born September 11, 1942, in Highland, MD the daughter of the late Estie Hobbs and the late Mary Hobbs (nee Depew).

She enjoyed Horseback Riding, sewing and making outfits for her family, traveling with Mount Airy Senior Center bus trips, duckpin bowling, adult softball, playing Sudoku, and watching all of the activities of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed raising her family as a homemaker; then working outside the home, most recently at Farmers and Mechanics Bank and Montgomery College.

Surviving in addition to her husband are her children Terri McCay (nee Lowman) and her husband Brian, Scott Lowman and his significant other Dana, Shawn Lowman and his wife Katie. Grandchildren- Jason Lowman, Kevin Lowman and wife Kelly, Olivia Lowman and Maya Lowman. Great Grandchildren-Harper and Adalynn Lowman.

Preceded in death by her siblings Eula, Paul, Kyle, Helen, and Earl.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 10-11 AM with a Celebration of Life service starting at 11 AM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. 1212 West Old Liberty Road Sykesville, MD 21784 (beside South Carroll High School).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. Some of Dottie’s favorite charities include St. Judes Children’s Hospital, Mt Airy VFD, Boys Town, and Frederick Health Hospice.
