Edward "Ed" Duafala, Jr.

Edward “Ed” Duafala, Jr., 86, of Severna Park, MD, formerly of Mt. Airy, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, July 19, 2026.

Born June 25, 1940, in Aliquippa, PA the son of the late Edward Duafala, Sr and the late Julia Duafala (Telesz).

The beloved husband of the late Dorothy “Carmie” H. (Conti) Duafala for nearly 60 years.

Devoted father of Ed (Robyn) Duafala of Mt. Airy, Rich Duafala of Severna Park, Carmella Duafala of Severna Park & Caroline Gibson of New Market. Loving grandfather of Angela (Chad), Genna, Nicholas (Ashlea), Emily, Steven, Christian & Carson. He is also survived by 6 great grandchildren Wyatt, Zachary, Joshua, Ryan, Dutton & Dean, his siblings Thomas, Kathleen (Cecil), Mary & Patrick (Beth), and many nephews and nieces.

Preceded in death by his brother Michael and his wife Mary Lee.

Ed earned a Bachelor of Science from Johns Hopkins University, and went on to retire from IBM after a long and distinguished career as a Senior Software Engineer — a profession that reflected both his passion for electronics and his sharp, methodical mind. Those who knew Ed also knew his stubborn persistence: once he set his mind to something, there was no changing it. He also found joy in cars and gardening. It was a life well and fully lived. The Family will receive friends on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 6-8 PM at BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Sykesville, MD 21784

A Funeral Liturgy will be said, on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 1 PM with viewing from 12 Noon to 1 PM at St. Peter the Apostle, 9190 Church St. Libertytown/Union Bridge, MD 21791.
