Donna Marie Bruns passed away on December 11, 2023, after a three month illness.

Donna was a History Major graduate of the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, NM. After graduation she began teaching high school history classes but later relocated to San Diego, CA to begin a career as a Social Worker in the San Diego community. This is when she met her future husband, John, and with a love-at-first-sight connection they both felt, they began their life together following John’s work projects around the country. They relocated first to Bremerton, WA then to Chincoteague, VA and then to Baltimore. Soon after the birth of their daughter, Melanie, they relocated to Winfield where Donna became very active as the Girl Scout Troop Leader for Melanie and her friends as they grew into their teenaged years. In addition to her Scouting activities, Donna worked at the Health Food and Hallmark Card Shops at the Carrolltown Mall. She then worked at Ain’t That A Frame shop in Westminster. She spent the next 15 years enjoying her time framing works of art.

Donna enjoyed the beach scene living on South Mission Beach in San Diego for some years, and traveling with John to the St. Martin beaches, Kewarra Beach Australia, and at their condominium in Ocean City, MD.

She leaves behind her husband of 54 years, John, and their shared son Gary Bruns. She was predeceased by their daughter, Melanie, Donna’s parents Bill and Veda Pettengill, and her grandparents John and Ollie Hayden. Per her desires, she was cremated and there will be no services.
