Donald Lee Garst

Donald Lee Garst, 94, of New Windsor, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. Born July 5, 1930 in Frederick County, MD, he was the son of the late John Gilmer and Mae Cordelia (Knill) Garst. He was the beloved husband of the late Patsie Lee (Himes) Garst.

Donald was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed gardening in his later years. He was a Walkersville High School graduate and a member of New Hope UMC, New Windsor, MD.

Mr. Garst is survived by his three children and their spouses: Diane and Richard Flickinger, Bradley and Sheila Garst, and Dale and Barbara Garst. He is the loving grandfather of Danielle (Dennis) Pickett, Samantha Garst (Eric Conley), Katherine Garst, and Eli Garst. He is the proud great grandfather of Levi, Garrett, and Raegan Pickett. Donald is survived by his sister Virginia Coblentz and sister-in-law Peggy Garst. He is preceded in death by his brothers and their spouses John (Peggy) Garst, Richard (Florence) Garst, and Denton Garst, by his sister Louise (Milo) Cline, and his brother-in-law Paul Coblentz. Donald is survived by special friend Jenny Rhoderick. In addition, Mr. Garst has many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 1, 2025 from 1-4 pm. and then again on Monday June 2, 2025 from 10-11 am. at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, 1212 W. Old Liberty RD, Sykesville, MD 21784. A celebration of his lifelong journey will be led by his pastor Megan Blizzard at 11 am. Burial at St. James of Dennings Cemetery will be private.
