Charles W. Johnson, Sr., age 96, died Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at his home in Woodbine, Maryland surrounded by his loving family.He was born May 25, 1929, in Franklin County, PA., the son of the late David Luther Johnson and the late Anna Mary Johnson (nee Stover). He was predeceased in 2019 by his loving wife of 71 years, Barbara Ann (Butler) Johnson. 

He is survived by his five children Charles W. Johnson, Jr. (Doris) of Woodbine, Carolyn M. Lowrey (Billy) of Mt. Airy, Thomas A. Johnson, Sr. of Mt. Airy, Judith A. Deel of Mt. Airy and Mary Ellen Fleming (Jimmy) of Mt. Airy. Also survived by 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. He was predeceased by his son, Larry Richard Johnson of Woodbine and also of his five siblings. Charles attended Jennings Chapel United Methodist Church. He volunteered his time with the Mens Club of his church and fundraisers at the Lisbon Volunteer Fire Department in which his wife was a lifetime member. He also enjoyed camping with his wife as part of the "Woodbine Munch Bunch" and playing cards with his family and neighbors. He retired from Campbell Sand and Gravel and he previously owned and operated J & J Crane Rental, Inc.The family would like to thank the Gilchrist Hospice Care of Howard County for their care at home and also Lorien Nursing Home of Mt. Airy. We could not have done it without you.

Gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, November 23, 2025, from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at Burrier Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA., 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Sykesville, MD 21784 (Beside South Carroll High School). Funeral Services will begin at 10 am on Monday, November 24, 2025 at the funeral home with Pastor Dave Norton of Jennings Chapel Church officiating.

 Interment will be at Poplar Springs United Methodist Church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Lisbon Volunteer Fire Department (Memo Section: Please write "Building Fund in Memory of Charles Johnson, Sr.") at P. O. Box 40, Lisbon, Maryland 21765.
