Carmen Alvarado Stinson, 69, of Laurel, passed away on December 16, 2025, due to complications from Alzheimer’s.

Born in Orocovis, Puerto Rico, on November 28, 1956, she was the daughter of Carmen Pena Alvarado and Roman Alvarado. On September 6, 1986, at the First Baptist Church of Laurel, she married James H. Stinson, who survives.

Carmen was a 1974 graduate of Potomac High School (MD). She worked as a medical receptionist, medical secretary, and office manager. Past employers were Children’s Hospital (DC), Chevy Chase Cardiology, and Patuxent Physicians of Laurel.

Carmen enjoyed reading, working on crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family. She was also an active member of the North Laurel Community Center and participated in their senior news group.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters, Rachel Stinson of Hampstead, and Rebecca Stinson of Columbia; three grandchildren, Liam Elliott, Lily Ngayan, and Noah Stout; sisters Norma (Gregory) Wilmot of Laurel, Yolanda (Tom) Shultz of St. Charles, Lydia Alvarado of Jessup, and brother Javier (Nancy) Alvarado of Valrico, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Roberto L. Alvarado.

The family is very grateful to the wonderful staff at Ridge Overlook Memory Care in Taylorsville.

There will be a private family service at a later date.
