Joseph
John Foltz, age 76, of Sykesville, died Saturday May 3, 2003 at his home.
He was born February 17, 1927 in Mt. Ranier, Washington, DC the son of the late
Elbie Wilbur Foltz, Sr. and the late Catherine Foltz (nee Edwards).
He retired as a System Analyst for the State of Maryland. He graduated
from Calvert Hall High School. He was a Sgt. In the Army during WWII. He
was a member of Taylorsville-Winfield Lions Club for 31 years, and was Lions
Club Treasurer for 26 years. He was awarded the highest Lionism Award, the
Melvin Jones Award in 2002. In December 2002, the Taylorsville-Winfield
Lions Club named the baseball field as "Joe Foltz Field" in his honor
for his many years of service in Lions Club and Baseball. Joe was one of the
original founders of the Taylorsville-Winfield Lions Club baseball league.
Besides being a member of Taylorsville Winfield Lions Club since 1972, he was a
member of the Westminster Elks #2277 and past member of Freedom Optimist.
He was married January 4, 1954 in Elkton, MD the husband of Emma M. Foltz (nee
Peddle) of Sykesville.

Husband John of Mt. Airy, MD
Brother of Betty J. Law of Wilmington, DE, Mary Lou Savering and husband Jack of
LasCruces, NM, Richard L. Foltz, Sr. and wife Brenda of Sykesville and the late
Patricia A. Cady.
Grandfather of Elizabeth Eller and husband Rob of Albuquerque, NM, John and
Daniel Ely of Mt. Airy, MD, Eric and Ryan Foltz of Street, MD.

Liberty Road, Winfield, MD (Beside South Carroll High School) on Tuesday 3-5
& 7-9 PM.
Taylorsville-Winfield Lions Club Memorial Service Tuesday at 8:00 PM
Funeral Wednesday May 7, 2003 at 11:00 AM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home 1212 W.
